Service & Information Centre UvA
Information on studying at the UvA, higher education in general, studying abroad and the labour market. The Housing Office of the Amsterdam Students Union (ASVA) is also located here.

Blackboard and Sakai
Blackboard and Sakai are both digital learning environments for many courses at the UvA. They enable lecturers to make course material available online. Whether the lecturer uses Blackboard or Sakai depends on the preference of the specific lecturer. It is simple for students and lecturers to exchange messages and documents and students can also work together in groups. Courses on Blackboard can be accessed through blackboard.ic.uva.nl. You can log on with your UvA ID and password. Courses on Sakai can be accessed through http://www.iis-communities.nl
Students will receive separate login details for this.
Studieweb / Study Web
Studieweb is an internet portal for the student administration system. You can use Studieweb to enroll for exams, tutorials and lectures, to view your examination results and alter your personal data. Studieweb can be accessed easily through http://www.myuva.nl, by entering your UvA ID (=student ID card number) and your password. For logon queries please contact the Informatics Centre at the UvA (www.ic.uva.nl).
Computer facilities
In addition to the general UvA Computer facilities, the Master Brain and Cognitive Sciences students also have their own study and computer facilities in the IIS building. These are shared with the Natural and Social Sciences and Future Planet Studies students. The rooms are located at the Sarphatistraat 104 on the 2nd floor. The room numbers are T1.14, T1.15, T1.16 and T1.17. The opening hours of these rooms are Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm.

Libraries
The UvA has a central University Library (UB) which is situated at Singel 425, Amsterdam and several smaller libraries across town. The addresses of the different libraries can be found at http://www.uba.uva.nl.
Photocopying
There are Xerox machines for photocopying throughout the whole UvA. There is one payment system for student photocopying facilities within the UvA, the Chipknip. This is the official chip debit card used by Dutch banks. Those who don't have a Dutch bank or giro account can use the Prepaid Chipknip, a variant of the Dutch Chipknip, the prepaid card cannot be recharged.
International Student Network (ISN)
International students have the possibility of joining the International Student Network (ISN). ISN aims to facilitate the social and cultural integration of international students in Dutch society, and Amsterdam in particular. They try to achieve this by coordinating and stimulating a mentor system, publishing a bi-monthly magazine: "The Insiders" and by organising introduction periods, parties, drinks, weekend-trips, excursions and other cultural and sportive activities. The INTT (Institute for Dutch as a Second Language) is an educational institute with 20 years of experience teaching Dutch as a Second Language to prospective UvA students, international UvA students and staff and to highly educated foreigners not related to the UvA.
