Academic Calendar

All courses are scheduled according to a semester system and are further divided into study periods (also called blocks). The programme of the master Brain and Cognitive Sciences starts in the first semester, it is not possible to start the programme in the second semester. Read more about the dates and the structure of the semesters.

Enrolment periods UvA 2010-2011:

Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies:
At least four weeks before the start of the course

Psychology:
Semester 1: from 21-06-2010 till 13-08-2010
Semester 2: from 20-12-2010 till 14-01-2010

Linguistics/Humanities:
Semester 1: from 14-06-2010 till 02-07-2010 
Semester 2: from 29-11-2010 till 17-12-2010

Logic/AI:
Semester 1: at least 3 weeks before the start of the course
Semester 2: see: www.student.uva.nl/ai or www.student.uva.nl/log

Life Sciences/ Biological Sciences:
At least six weeks before the start of the course

Literature Thesis

All students of the Master Brain and Cognitive Sciences have to write a 10 EC Literature Thesis. This is a mandatory part of the Master programme.

Locations

The Universiteit van Amsterdam is literally a university of Amsterdam: the UvA is housed in several buildings spread over the city, from the city centre to the East. Studying at the IIS as part of the UvA means that you will not only visit the IIS building at the Sarphatistraat but also other UvA buildings.
