The Cognitive Science Center of the University of Amsterdam (CSCA) is an interdisciplinary institute for cognition research in which a number of research institutes from the University of Amsterdam participate. The Center was established in 2001 when several groups of researchers combined their expertise to promote interdisciplinary research and teaching in Cognitive Science. The Center now comprises groups from Biology, Psychology, Computer Science, Philosophy, Linguistics, Medical Science and Economics.
The Center is unique in bringing together top-level scientists from such a broad range of fields, that share a common interest in the acquisition, storage and usage of information, and how these processes are mediated by the brain. It is our conviction that interdisciplinary collaboration is necessary to enable fundamental breakthroughs in our understanding of the human (and animal) mind and how the brain enables cognitive behaviour.
